Gardening groups bring people together

Gardening groups. Get communities together!

Say hello at your local gardening group. Meet other gardeners and swap garden tips and tricks.

It seems that gardening love is in the air ! ❤ More and more people are using their garden hobby as a means of meeting like-minded people. I have read some lovely articles showing how nature brings people together. More communities are creating Gardening groups where they get together, have a chat and a brew and swap gardening knowledge and tips.

It can be very comforting to be around like minded people. Getting together with others who share your interests is great for socialising and making new friends.  A gardening group or community garden is a fab idea and could be a brilliant way to get people out and about.

You could take it to another level and bring and swap other gardening bits, maybe you have a pot or ornament that you are tired of but someone else would love it and they have something that could benefit your garden. Swap and share tools to save each other money. Share landscaping ideas and flower gardening advice. That way everyone saves money and recycles too.

Gardening groups bring people together. Seed swaps, meet friends, ecotherapy for mental health.

Across the pond some of these gardening groups have an annual  seed swaps. People bring their spare seeds and exchange with fellow gardeners, this is a great way to have a go at growing something new and getting some advice from previous growers. Gather all your unwanted seed packets and exchange with someone else’s.

Getting your ecotherapy fix

Finding a local gardening group or community based garden project can be very beneficial for mental health. Many doctors are starting to prescribe ecotherapy for depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. Being in nature has a calming effect on the mind and gardening can offer a sense of purpose to people.

If you love gardening, whether you are a serious gardener or it’s a hobby that you dip in and out of , this can be a great way for people to come together. Why not have a look and see if there is anything like this in your local area, if not you could always start your own group, get some flyers made, use social media to promote your club , tell your family and friends and even better get the young ones involved.

Please comment below if you know of any gardening groups in your local area or if would like to mention your own !

Happy gardening

I found you on one of the Pinterest groups I’m a part of. I love this idea! I met a lady at a blogging group I go to who also gardens. She told me about a gardening group nearby that I recently joined. I haven’t gone to events yet but looking forward to getting to know other gardeners in my area. Thanks for sharing!
