Try these ecotherapy activities ….

Taking in a view. Next time you’re out walking or even driving and you see a great view stop and look.

Look closely , what can you see? Try and spot the finer details. What buildings are around? Is there any stand out scenery or landmarks?  How does the landscape look?

Look for trees, fields and nature. Breathe in the moment and the stillness of it all. Being aware of your surroundings will create a mindful moment. Take this time to feel really present and grounded.

Look up

Go outside and lay down on the grass. This is a good ecotherapy activity for the kids to join in with.

We spend so much time looking at the ground that we forget about the beautiful skies above, which can look like a whole new world in itself.

What can you see? Are the clouds moving in the wind ? Are there any shapes you can make out from the clouds ?

Really take the time to feel your body connected to the ground.

This nature activity can help you to feel grounded and put you and your presence into perspective against the vast world beyond your own environment.

Enjoy a few moments with your head in the clouds.

Go for a stroll

I’m sure you all know the power of a good walk but there is no harm in reminding you.

If you are lucky enough to live near a park or countryside then fab.

If not a great activity is to take the time to look for nature on your walk. Spot birds, count butterflies, take note of beautiful flowers you see.

Be mindful of your surroundings and you will be surprised at what you will see that you may normally miss.

Connecting with nature this way helps to keep you in the present moment. Being mindful is vital to our mental health.

Nature 360*

Go to the woods. Quite simply there is nothing like it.

Surrounded by nature in a 360* is the ultimate ecotherapy activity!

Breathe in that moment and truly feel the energy that surrounds you.

Connecting with something so much bigger than ourselves helps us to feel grounded.

Out in the woods you really are away from the hustle and bustle of life.

Let your inner child come out to play, climb trees, collect leaves, acorns etc.

Immerse yourself in nature’s magic and tell me that you don’t feel better for it ! I bet you can’t, this is green therapy at it’s best!

Listen to water

Find a stream and sit a while.

Close your eyes and listen to its soothing sounds.

It can mentally wash away any troubles, even if it’s just for a moment or two.

If you don’t have a stream nearby, download a nature sounds app.

They are great to play when you have 5 minutes, or even whilst in the bath.

We owe it to our mental well-being  to seek out these precious moments. Where we choose to listen to our surroundings instead of negative thoughts and mental chatter for five minutes.
