Confessions of an excited gardener. How I beat the winter blues.

Winter be gone……Spring come along…..

Winter feels to me as if it has been around a heck of a long time this time. I confess it’s getting me down somewhat and the need to beat the winter blues has been near the top of my list. Spring is on my mind, and I get twitchy between seasons so today’s post is a bit of a random one. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow of your mind, and this is where my mind is at.

On the whole I do love all the seasons. I try to embrace each one in turn and respect what it has to offer. After all what’s the point in letting the cold months get you down right? they are a part of life. However after what was a mild day yesterday, with a nice temperature, winter sun, quite pleasant on the whole.  I was shocked to see my shed roof covered in frost this morning. It appears whilst we have been asleep Jack Frost has been a busy boy.

I guess that’s why they call it the winter blues

For some reason this time around the winter season is starting to get to me some what. I guess that’s why they call it the winter blues.  Finding myself longing for spring, I miss my garden.😔 Now I know winter doesn’t mean that we can’t do anything outdoors but I don’t know about you I do have to dig that little bit deeper within myself to get motivated.

Yesterday I pottered around a fantastic garden centre. I felt giddy looking through all the new garden ornaments and packets of seeds and bulbs. I could visualise myself running through the isles, filling my trolley full of gardening delights !!!!! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

A gust of cold air brought me back to reality,  “its winter love, calm down” said my inner voice. So off to the on site coffee shop it was for a hot drink to help melt away my winter blues. I sat people watching for a while which is something I just love to do. Who were these people? What did they do? How did they feel? Were they searching for springtime?

That’s when I started to think about spring…… If spring was a person, what would they be like? What would they do and say ?

In that moment spring walked into the coffee shop. She had long bouncing blonde hair. Loosely curled with golden wisps and glistening strands that framed her face. Spring was fashionably dressed but not in your face, not intimidating in any way, a bit like your beautiful best friend you have not seen in a while.

Spring walked in with confidence and purpose. She stood tall, back straight with the most beautiful smile on her face.A women with blonde hair stood in a field with the sunlight shining on her obscuring her face , she does not have the winter blues

“Mind if i sit with you a while?” she said

We talked about where she had been since I last saw her and about her plans for the future. I told her how much I had missed her. She held my hand with a warm grasp and asked me to be patient. She would be visiting again soon and staying a while. Spring stood and walked away, she turned to smile and then she was gone.

Spring will be here again soon and I don’t know about you but I cant wait to see her! I cant wait to be outdoors, to get in my garden and watch nature take over.

I shall sit here and wait…………. patiently 🤦🏻‍♀️

Are you looking forward to spring or do you enjoy the winter season? Do you find yourself suffering from the winter blues ?

If spring was a person, what would they look like to you?
